Had an awesome trip with Jim and Ricky from Hazlehurst. I
was a little concerned when we weren’t getting bit, but then these guys put it
in overdrive and started flinging flatties over the gunnels. It’s here that I have to explain the “flounder
pounder”. Back in the day, a fellow named Ray Thomas use to be the king of big
flat fish. Besides that, he was an outstanding taxidermist, and made some
really neat flounder mounts. Well, according to Ray, if you got 10 in a day, or
a 10 pounder, you became a flounder pounder. Old Ray even had some “flounder
pounder” t-shirts made that he awarded pounders. Well, Jim and Ricky qualified,
and then some. We ended up with 10 nice ones and a few borderline chips that we
let grow up, for a total of 15. I think I’m gonna have to get some shirts made
up. Thanks guys for a great trip!!
