We ran a few trips, ran a few sandbars, did some fun fishing, twisted an anchor and all in all had a big time the past few days. While the fishing was not spectacular, it was steady enough to keep us interested. Bluefish have invaded the few spots we were catching trout, but we did manage a few on Sunday, along with the blues and a couple of dink flounders.
My good friend Bob fished with me Monday, using artificials only, and we couldn't get any reds in the slot. Although oversized are nice, Bob is one of the few fellas who likes to eat fish nearly as much as me. He did manage to put on a great show pulling a 29 incher around some nasty oysters.
Zach and Laura fished with me today and although they did manage a real nice slam, the fishing was not what it has been--with only a handful of slot reds.
The water clarity has been very very good, and the salinity levels very high. Usually this is a good thing. I'm not quite sure why the bite has not been stronger, with the exception of the whiting. I imagine as we fall off this new moon it should get really good. I hope so cause Michelle is getting tired of the blues knockin the paint off her bombers.
Looks better than what I've been doing lately...writing grant applications, cleaning house, mowing the grass, and editing our quarterly newsletter. LOL
